Michael is serious about how music works. His fascination with how music is enjoyed, as well as used, drives his emotional and technical expertise. He is a musical sculptor who uses the creative elements of human philosophy, the arts, theory, and the cultural and technical aspects of today's music to create, study, perform, and teach music.
Michael is an artist philosopher, as well, whose experience with vocal engineering, audio and video editing, recording and mixing, and composition lends credibility to his talent and ability. His is comfortable leading and consulting individual and group performers in any virtual art musical configuration, but it is his live performances that most demonstrates his passion and craftsmanship toward his work.
Enduring in concept, dedicated to learning, and always eager to present quality, Michael is appreciated by those who know him, work with him, and follow him as fans. Follows are some of Michael's self-thoughts that seem appropriate here:
"Though I've held an esteemed interest in poetry and philosophy since childhood, I can say, at thirty, that I'm just beginning to get poetry. Moreover, I am just beginning to philosophically live as I work."
"I've a recursive soul. I reveal those recursions through an indirect communication with spirit. Some might name this spirit Duende. Direct communication can, at times, distract from the impact of a work."
"I am driven by sound-experiences. The humor present in my interpretations of the processes, within those experiences, excites while at the same time embarrasses me."
"Music happens to be the only endeavor in which I learned the rules first before learning to break them."
"My college training has allowed me to do one thing: make efficient creative decisions."
Evidence of the self-thoughts can be found in these efforts:
E.U.N.O.I.A., presented at the Women's Center at Fort Worth, Texas in 2005, raised money to assist battered women to attain legal counsel.
Magnetic Poets from San Francisco solicited virtual and recorded art from artists around the world for daily combined arts presentations at the 2006 Winter Olympics at Torino, Italy.
Extensive work with fellow artists to include: Mima's Mami Music CD and performances (New York and Puerto Rico), DJ Nature of XL/Ghetto Arc (Boston, Massachusetts), and Homebrew, Violent Squid, and C U R V E TT E, all from Denton, Texas.

It is typical for artists and musicians to struggle to master the basics before focusing on advanced creative work. Michael understands anxiety as it relates to mastering the fundamentals of guitar, piano, and drums. He emphasizes being prepared for practice, lessons, and auditions as ways to control nervousness. Michael listens then reacts and interacts with his students. He knows how to appropriately challenge them. His expertise allows him to work with advanced students to enhance ability by gaining new skills and techniques, developing repertoire, and improving amateur and professional performance.
Michael's goal is to assist his students to gain confidence. Learning to teach confidence is directly related to not music but the martial arts. As a youngster, Michael earned the rank of Black Belt in American Karate. He taught younger students, students his own age, and adults. This experience at Raleigh, North Carolina circa 1988 began his dedication to, in the the traditions followed by his father and his father's mother, being a good teacher. His father has performed around his careers since age 12 using cornet, piano, guitar, and drums in America and Europe. His experience has encouraged Michael, the performer, in the business of living a life as an artist in music -- his father teaches communication. His grandmother began her teaching in a one room school house. She taught for forty years.
Michael began playing percussion then taught himself guitar. Guitar is what he studied at the University of North Texas while improving percussion, piano, and vocal abilities. To keep up with the times as well as to anticipate the future. Michael has developed a professional portfolio of sculptured virtual art works using current technology. He encourages his students to explore their own potential to learn, practice, and create.
Michael uses what he calls empowered teaching to teach students to say, "Not only can I do this, I can do much more."
